Essential tips and advice on using a three-legged Toad God to improve wealth and luck

Cai Shen Ma (Wealth Toad God) Wealth enhancer and cureThere is so much misinformation on websites and books about the three legged Toad, also known as Chan Chu  (wealth calling Toad), Jin Chan  (golden Toad), money Toad, wealth Toad, Toad God, three legged Toad God, money Frog and it represents one of the most important aspects of Feng Shui charms with regards to generating wealth and protecting it.

This legendary celestial and mythical creature is said to appear during the full moon, near houses or businesses that will soon receive good news with regards to wealth but also just good news in general. In most homes and business in Southeast Asia you will find a three legged Toad close to a main entrance and sitting proudly on a desk or office although there is much confusion about how and where it should be placed and whether the Chinese i-ching should always remain in its mouth. This article will demystify the legend of the three legged Toad once and for all.

Like many ciphers in Chinese folklore, the wealth Toad came from a myth. The legend is about a Toad named Chan Chu. The story is that a wife of one of the eight immortals stole the elixir of mortality from Hsi Wang Mu, the Goddess of the west and fled on a full moon. When she drank the elixir, it turned her into a toad. The compassionate Gods allowed her to keep the tail of a tadpole rather than two legs of a fully developed toad.

Three legged Toad God sitting on Wealth IngotsThe story goes that Chan Chu, loved money and was drawn into a well with gold coins. One reason wealth Toads are said to be connected to money is that they can always be found where there is water and as water means wealth, the relationship of wealth and water were associated with the toad. It’s also said that the money Toads looks like a fat coin purse, further enhancing the Toads association with wealth and good fortune.

A three-legged Toad God helps attract and protect wealth, and safeguards against bad luck. Because it symbolises the flow of money, Feng Shui lore insists that a three legged Toad God statue should not be positioned facing the main door (“outward”). It also “should never be placed in a bathroom, toilet, bedroom or kitchen.

There is a contradiction to this in that you can place one three legged Toad facing the main entrance and another one beside it with its back facing the door, this way it is said to encourage new wealth and protect your wealth and bring luck into a home, personally this is what we have had at our main entrance.

It is one of the most important icons of prosperity and wealth gains and protection in Feng Shui and no home or business should be without one, personally we have four in our home and at least two in each office of our business.

It is believed that it is ideal because it symbolises the flow of money inwards from the nine directions of the Lo Shu. The Toads can be placed either in your living room, office, study or in your front garden; display them all together all pointing in the same direction, Personally I have never used nine in one place and I do think this was made up to sell more Toads, I will let you decide.
